Kathrin Schmid

Teacher

Kathrin was born in Reutlingen, Germany and gained her Masters degree (MA) in communications and cultural anthropology at the University of Tübingen. After some years working in journalism in her hometown, she moved to Milwaukee and found her bigger interest was in culture and education.

Kathrin started working for the Milwaukee Public Museum as well as a small non-profit called Urban Anthropology and gained experience teaching children and adults in informal education settings. After a move back to Germany she also had the opportunity to work at the Naturkundemuseum (Nature museum) Münster.

In 2016 Kathrin, her American husband and their two children moved to Naperville. She has found that bringing up her children bilingual is not as easy as it seems. "Helping others to become bilingual will be a wonderful opportunity and challenge!"
